Prototype Fonts (formally Prototype Font Design) exploded onto the scene in 1995, as a sister project to brand and interiors studio Casa Forte, founded by design rascal Terence Bergagna.
With the exponential growth of Casa Forte by the late 2000s, Prototype was put on the back burner, and the core font team disbanded. Despite this, Terence quietly continued working with savvy clients needing custom font designs and branding for the next two decades.
Now it’s time to get the band back together, and get a new font development party started! Jump (back) on board and let the font fun resume — 2024 promises to be a fontabulous year!
Feast your eyes and flip through the original publication from the font collective known then as Prototype Font Design.
When this groundbreaking little saddle-stitched, two-colour book landed in 1996, it was a smash hit that melted minds. It found its way into the hands of some very talented creatives, and launched our team into a sizzling scene of other like-minded design renegades keen to collaborate on exciting typographical projects throughout the late ‘90s and early 2000s.
More than just a relic from a bygone design era, the work continues to offer great insight into font development in Australia at the turn of the century.
